Tread Films is a film studio, doing weddings, brand films and documentary work. They had the brand and the footage, they just needed a site that felt like watching one of their films rather than scrolling a template.
The creative direction and branding were theirs. I built the whole site around it.
What I built
- A cinematic homepage, with an ambient hero and a film-timeline rail that brings their reels up as you scroll, like weddings and brand work such as Saving Botha's Lark.
- Motion-led touches all the way through: tilt cards, a spotlight effect, a custom cursor, magnetic buttons. They're there for the mood, not decoration.
- And the practical stuff a studio needs: team and testimonials, a WhatsApp-first contact, and social links.
Getting it right
A site this visual is really easy to make slow. After the first cut I pulled out the heavy animation library, recompressed the images, self-hosted the fonts and dropped the ambient video hero on touch devices, then worked through a punch list on load speed, accessibility and SEO. It went through a few rounds of feedback with the studio before it felt done.
